Day 1: Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley.
Begin your adventure through the eastern half of Morocco in a modern, air-conditioned minibus. Our guide will collect you from your Marrakech hotel at 8:30 a.m. and take you to the starting point. We’ll traverse the Atlas Mountains and descend into the Kasbah at Ait Ben Haddou.
The Kasbah, comprised of six within a walled city, is a remarkable place where you’ll feel transported back to the era of gladiators, desert nomads, and ancient trading markets. After a guided tour, we’ll have lunch in the Kasbah.
Our next stop is Ouarzazate, known for its scenic beauty and as the filming location for movies like “The Mummy” and “Lawrence of Arabia.” After a brief café stop in this city, often called “The Gateway to the Desert,” we’ll continue to the Dades Valley. Here, you can relax at a private guesthouse with an en-suite bathroom and savor a traditional Moroccan dinner.
Day 2: Dades Valley - Todgha Gorges - Merzouga.
On day two, we’ll explore the breathtaking Todra Gorge, featuring well-maintained roads through a vast canyon. You’ll see rock climbers and stunning cliff faces. After lunch at a local café, we’ll head to Merzouga, our final destination for the day.
The highlight is a camel ride through the golden sands of the desert to the Berber desert camp. The camels will guide us through the Dunes of Erg Chebbi, though you can also choose to walk. This is a unique and exhilarating way to experience desert travel.
On our last night, we’ll stay in traditional Berber tents. You’ll enjoy an evening meal under the stars with the gentle rhythm of Moroccan drums. The clear night sky and serene desert atmosphere will provide a peaceful sleep. In the morning, you’ll have breakfast at the camp before preparing for the final leg of our journey to Fes.
Day 3: Merzouga - Medilt - Ifrane - Fes.
On the final day, our camels will take us back to Merzouga, where we’ll drive to the charming city of Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” due to its high altitude and snowy winters. Depending on our schedule, we’ll have lunch in Ifrane or in the picturesque Ziz Valley.
Traveling through the Ziz Valley, you’ll witness dramatic gorges, golden dunes, and lush oases with palm trees and rose-tinted sandstone buildings. Our journey concludes with a drive to Fes, arriving around 7:00 p.m., where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or riad.
