Erg Chigaga sand dunes are situated approximately 6 hours non-stop drive from Ouarzazate. To optimize your journey and enhance your desert experience, we recommend a 3-day, 2-night option. This allows for a break in the long journey, spending the first night in a hotel at M’hamid or Zagora, and the second night camping in Erg Chigaga sand dunes.
You have the flexibility to choose between a standard camp or a luxury tent upgrade for an additional cost. This option enables you to arrive earlier at the dunes and fully immerse yourself in the wilderness of the Moroccan Sahara desert.
Day 1 : Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Zagora.
Commence your adventure with a pick-up from your accommodation at 8:30 am. Journey southward across the majestic Anti Atlas Mountains to Agdez and Tamnougalt, where you’ll explore ancient Ksars and Kasbahs. Follow the meandering Draa River through Berber villages until reaching Zagora. After a lunch break, check into your hotel for relaxation. In the late afternoon, visit Tamgroute and the pottery village for a cultural excursion.
Day 2 : Zagora – M’hamid – Erg Chigaga.
Today, embark on a scenic journey to Erg Chigaga sand dunes for an overnight stay in a tented camp, standard or luxury, depending on your package. Enjoy a sunset camel ride as you traverse Ait Isfoul village and M’hamid en route to Erg Chigaga, your desert haven for the night.
Day 3 : Erg Chigaga – Foumzguid – Tazenakht – Ouarzazate.
Savor the tranquility of the dunes as you wander, witness the sunrise, and capture captivating moments. After breakfast, pack up and journey back to Ouarzazate via the scenic route encompassing Iriki Lake, Foumzguid, and Tazenakht. Morocco Itinerary : 3 days Desert Tour from Ouarzazate
Morocco 3 days Merzouga desert tour from Ouarzazate to Fes. In these 3 days / 2 nights you will visit so many fabulous places in a short time. The tour starts by exploring the city of Ouarzazate where you visit the Taourirt Kasbah an ancient mud castle. Visit also the studios where many movies were shot. Then we drive to visit the Dades valley and Todra gorges. In addition to Merzouga Sahara desert.
Where ride camels, witness magical sunset and sunrise and spend the night in a desert camp. Explore the Sahara desert of Merzouga in a 4×4 car. Furthermore you will visit the Rissani traditional market, and Erfoud the fossils town. Then visit the Switzerland of Morocco Ifrane, and the cedars forest where the Barbary macaque live. Finally, the tour ends in Fes.
1st day : Ouarzazate – Skoura (Kasbah Amridil) – Rose valley – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud -Merzouga Sahara – overnight in a luxury camp
We pick you up from your accommodation or the airport in Ouarzazate early in the morning. Then we explore the city of Ouarzazate. Visiting the Atlas Studio where famous movies were shot, and also visit Taourirt Kasbah. Then drive southeast to visit Amridil Kasbah surrounded by palm groves in Skoura. Thereafter we continue to Rose valley. A Rose Festival is held annually in May, where the locals offer their rose products, from perfumes, rose water, oil, to cosmetic products.
Then we drive through the Dades valley, we stop on a spot overlooking the valley, to enjoy the spectacular landscape of Dades gorges. Then we continue to Todra Gorges, the course of Todra river has carved out a grand canyon through the mountains -Making a high red cliff-sided canyon. Free time for lunch. Feel free to wander in the gorges and appreciate the beauty of the landscape.
In the afternoon we reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga. Where you switch to camels and cross the sandy desert. A stop will be made for you to enjoy the magical sunset on top of a high dune. Then continue to the desert luxury camp, where you can enjoy the Berber drums music while dancing around the campfire, under vast open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
2nd Day : Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – palm grove
Wake up early in the morning is a must do, in order to contemplate the beautiful sunrise, in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then you return on camels to Merzouga, where the driver awaits. We dedicate the day to explore the region of Merzouga. The area has so many incredible sites, from sand dunes, wild lake, mines, fossils areas to fabulous oases. Which are ideal places for so many outdoor activities.
Firstly, we start our journey in Merzouga, by driving off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Then we pay the nomads a visit, in their handmade woven tent. Learn how they live while drinking a Berber tea. Our next destination is the Khamlia village, where you will enjoy the Gnaoua music, and dancing performances. Its inhabitants are originating from sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan and Niger. Free time for lunch in a restaurant. After that we take a stroll in a palm trees grove. Then drive a few kilometres to see the wild lake of Merzouga, also called flamingos lake. Dinner and overnight In a hotel.
3rd day: Merzouga Dunes – Erfoud – Midelt – cedars forest – Ifrane – Fes
In the last day of your ”Morocco 3-day desert to Fes tour”. You wake up early morning to contemplate the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast, then you return on camels to Merzouga where the driver awaits. Then we leave the desert to visit Rissani town, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani still a major trading center in the region, with a large souk lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. After a stroll in Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud where we visit one of the workshops of fossilized marble
