We drive through the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying beautiful views and a stop at the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) for photos and fresh mountain air Our next visit is the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for famous movies and series. After exploring the kasbah, you’ll enjoy lunch nearby before we continue our route.
We then follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Ouarzazate and the palm filled oasis of Skoura. Passing through Kalaat M’Gouna, known for its rose products, we continue to the impressive Todra Gorge, where you’ll have time to walk between the tall canyon walls and enjoy the scenery.
In the late afternoon, we head toward the Merzouga Desert, where the golden dunes appear on the horizon. Upon arrival, you will meet your camel guide and start a peaceful trek through the dunes. Enjoy a magical sunset from a high dune before reaching your luxury desert camp. After dinner, relax around the campfire and enjoy traditional Berber music under the starry Sahara sky.
After a beautiful desert sunrise and breakfast at the camp, we depart Merzouga and drive to Rissani, the former capital of the Tafilalet region. Its traditional market held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays is one of the most authentic in Morocco, offering spices, crafts, dates, and local products.
Our journey continues to Alnif for a short coffee break, then to Nkob, where you’ll enjoy a Berber style lunch. After lunch, we pass through the vast palm oasis of the Draa Valley, one of the largest in Morocco, and stop to admire its breathtaking views.
We then make our way back toward Ouarzazate and continue to Telouet, where you can see the exterior of one of the oldest kasbahs in the region, once home to the powerful Glaoui family.
