Admire the exquisite architecture of the Bou Inania Madrasa and Al-Attarine Madrasa, and learn about Fes’ educational legacy at the University of Al Quaraouiyine, the world’s oldest continuously operating university.

Continue to the Merenid Tombs for panoramic views of the city and enjoy a peaceful stroll in the Jardin Jnan Sbil a tranquil oasis amid the urban bustle. Every corner of Fes offers a glimpse into its storied past, promising a truly immersive experience.

At the end of the day bid farewell to your local guide and return to your riad for a second overnight stay in Fes.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert

Today, we embark on an unforgettable journey toward the Sahara Desert of Merzouga. Our first stop is Ifrane, a charming town in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, famous for its snowy winters and crisp mountain air.

Next, we visit the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to the playful Barbary macaques. Take plenty of photos, but always remain cautious these wild monkeys can be mischievous. Feeding them is possible, but do so carefully.

After a break for lunch in Midelt, we continue through the scenic Ziz Valley, where hundreds of lush palm trees create breathtaking landscapes and photo opportunities.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Here, you’ll ride majestic camels across the golden dunes, feeling the gentle sway of their gait as you reach a traditional Berber desert camp. Upon arrival, your hosts will warmly welcome you with mint tea and a delicious Moroccan dinner under the starry desert sky. Enjoy an enchanting evening with traditional Berber music, completing an unforgettable desert experience.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert Excursion – Nomads, Gnawas, Oases, and Mefis Mountain

Today we spend another day exploring the desert region and immersing ourselves in the culture and traditions of its inhabitants. Begin by mounting your camel and returning to the village to meet your driver guide for the day.

Our first stop is Khamlia Village, home to the Gnawa people. Guests are welcomed with amazing rhythms of Gnawa music and a refreshing glass of mint tea. Showing appreciation with a small tip is encouraged to support the local community.

Next, we venture off-road to Mefis Mountain, a historic site where the French army once established a colony. This area is rich in minerals, many of which were historically exported to France.

We then visit a Berber nomad family in their traditional tent, enjoying a cup of tea while learning about their daily life, customs, and culture. A tip is appreciated as a gesture of gratitude for their hospitality.

Lunch is served at a local restaurant specializing in Berber pizza (Medfouna). The day continues with a visit to a nearby desert oasis, where you can admire the unique flora thriving in this arid environment.

Finally, we return to a comfortable hotel in Merzouga for a restful overnight stay, preparing for the journey toward Marrakech.

Day 5: Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Todgha Gorge – Boumalne Dades
